Birth Photography: Atlanta

Guided by heart in the same way, I arrived on St John, US Virgin Islands 13 years ago.
I have established new roots in Atlanta, Georgia. I am remembering what a major, abundant, thriving city has to offer. And gathering experience and new tools for my “wise woman bag.” All while still being on St John for a week or more each month. It feels so amazing right here. This chapter is spicy, invigorating, sensual, and flowing with ease. I am embodying peace and balance on new levels. It’s one thing to be on a high vibrational tropical island practicing inner peace, but Spirit was like “okay, bet: can you do this in your body anywhere, under any condition?”

Thank you spirit!! And thank you summer 2022 Me for leaning into the fear and taking this leap. My work as a wedding photographer guiding couples with ease through high-emotion, often stressful wedding days has prepared me for now. A Birth Keeper, holding sacred space and capturing the birth of a Mother.

In the current societal context, so many babies are born in a hospital, and too many are traumatized and abused. It really never appealed to me. The western medical industrial complex never has jived well with me. I was raised by my Mother, Grandmas, and Aunts leaning on herbal remedies, tinctures, teas, and plants before heading to a doctor.

A stark, sterile, cold room with recycled air, bright lights, and strangers in gowns and latex gloves coming in and out to poke and insert tools into the Women. Not it for me.

Birth is the most natural thing a woman can do.
Our bodies know exactly what to do. There are so many myths around birth created to make us believe that our bodies are doing it wrong to invite intervention in birth for profit. I dream of documenting and sharing more birth stories that embody joy, and bliss, in a safe, sacred, space, supported with love.
